Introduction to MESA con't...
Domestic Violence
Another one of the MESA objectives is to deal with issues of domestic violence.
We acknowledge however, that violence in the home can come from any source,
and in recognizing this, we provide an unconditionally supportive environment
in the community for acknowledging and validating the physical and emotional
abuse that men are subjected to in the home.
Question....
As a Father who finds himself caught in the middle of a domestic crisis,
who in your community, can you turn to for help in this situation right
now?...The police?...social services?...family counselors?...your lawyer?...the
courts???......
Any Father who has been through a divorce recently and who has had to
fight for his children's right to see him knows how unlikely it is that
any of the resources mentioned above will support him fully in a fair and
unbiased manner on behalf of his children.
After a family breakup, fathers are more frequently discovering that
the odds are unfairly stacked against them as they pursue fair and balanced
outcomes with their spouse and the courts. The outcomes of the ensuing
(and unnecessary) legal battles that follow are often vastly different
from those they expected (i.e. assumed joint parenting) and instead, court
actions have become costly, heart-breaking and demoralizing experiences
that have left many fathers financially destitute and their children no
closer to being able to see them. A fathers sense of loss and feeling of
betrayal by the family law system is profound.
This is where MESA will help.
